2016

Moody Gardens- Spring 2016

We had a great time visiting Moody Gardens! Donita Brannon gave use a tour of the Rainforest and Aquarium Pyramids and we got a special look at the SpongeBob Subpants Adventure!

Billings Productions- Spring 2016

Billings Productions, Inc. is a company that creates life-sized dinosaur animatronics in Allen, Texas.. Robby Gilbert gave us a tour of the facility where we learned about the design process the company goes through to create their animatronics, from concept to sculpture to mechanics to delivery.

Wonder World Park- Spring 2016

Wonder World in San Marcos was such a great place for TPO to visit! Wonder World is a one-of-a-kind theme park, complete with an earthquake-formed cave, an anti-gravity house, and a petting park. We got a guided tour through each of these unique attractions and really enjoyed our experience!

Sea World San Antonio- Spring 2016

TPO had a blast at Sea World San Antonio! We learned a lot about the different animals Sea World is home to. We also got to ride their spectacular roller coasters- the Great White and the Steel Eel- that offered high speed thrills and excitement. We then proceeded to the water shows that showcase animals and people performing acrobatic feats! Overall, it was an unforgettable experience for TPO!

Six Flags Over Texas- Spring 2016

TPO spent the day adventuring around Six Flags Over Texas. We had the privilege of getting a walking tour around Six Flags from Jim Brothers, the marketing director, and we learned about the history and the future of the park. We also got to check out The New Revolution, where Six Flags has implemented virtual reality technology into one of their roller coasters!

Schlitterbahn New Braunfels- Spring 2016

We had a fantastic day at Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels! Terri Adams gave us a tour and showed us how the park converts river water into water used in the attractions. We also got to ride the Master Blaster, which has been voted the best water ride in the nation, and the Falls, which is the world's longest tube ride. It was a great day!

Morgan's Wonderland- Fall 2016

Morgan's Wonderland was a wonderful place to visit! We got to tour the park from Jessica, one of the managers, and we learned a lot about the park from her. Morgan's Wonderland is the first theme park built specifically for people with disabilities and special needs. Each attraction is completely wheelchair accessible, and many of the attractions also have other accommodations. After our tour, we got to explore the park on our own.

Pleasure Pier - Fall 2016

Pleasure Pier in Galveston is quite a feat, being one of only a few amusement park that is, in its entirety, on a pier. When TPO visited, we toured their maintenance facility and learned about how their maintenance schedules differ from the norm because of the somewhat caustic reaction of ocean water with metal. We also toured the "danger zone" of their roller coaster, Iron Shark. After that, we explored the park on our own and had a great time!

Six Flags Fiesta Texas - Fall 2016

This visit to Six Flags differed from our previous visits in one major aspect: it was October, so Fright Fest was on! The day was spent looking at their decorations for the event and riding their myriad of roller coasters, and when night fell, we embraced the haunting atmosphere, experiencing their haunted houses and shows full of ghouls, zombies, clowns, and Chupacabras!

Billings Productions - Fall 2016

We really enjoyed visiting Billings Productions for a third time! Billings Productions designs and creates life-sized dinosaur and giant bug animatronics. The rent their products out to zoos, museums, and many other places for educational shows. Robby Gilbert gave us a tour of their facility and told us about all the work they do- from design, manufacturing, and the final touches.

IAAPA- Fall 2016

In November 2016, a few of our members travelled to the IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando, Florida!
